Strange Album Cover: The Great Kat's 'Beethoven Shreds'
By Dan Cross, About.com Guide June 19, 2011
I get a fair number of promotional CDs sent to me, but this one caught my eye -
The Great Kat's "Beethoven Shreds." If you've heard
The Great Kat before, you
know what to expect - classical music performed in a metal style at blinding
speeds. What really struck me was the CD cover - it's about the most bizarre
I've seen in a long time.

SPEAKERS AND HEADPHONES

- "Kat is a Juilliard-trained violinist who traded in the sedate world of
classical performance to play the guitar just shy of the speed needed to go back
in time. Kat forces these melodies through a black hole and back out again
through in a white-hot stream of incredibly fine sound particles that ascend and
descend so quickly and accurately that one could debate whether the
interpretations are a performance or a weapon. For those who have thus far
enjoyed the carnival ride of Beethoven Shreds should have no problem putting
Kat's statue alongside the greats." By Jef With One F, Houston Press

VELOCOMP
INTRODUCES NEW IBIKE COACH APP &
MAJOR UPDATE TO IBIKE APP
iBike Coach App for the iBike Dash CC Makes Cycling More Rewarding
and Fun
iBike App Update Adds Exclusive
“Always On” Recording Technology
Boca Raton, FL, June 7, 2011 -- Velocomp LLP, www.iBikeDash.com,
a leading sports technology company and makers of the iBike® line of
power meters and iBike Dash line of cycling computers, announced today
two major app enhancements for its iBike Dash line of cycling
computer products.
iBike Coach App
The new iBike Coach App (designed to work
exclusively with the iBike Dash CC), includes a new user interface, more
extensive use of video instruction tutorials, a simpler product setup,
easier screen navigation, and one button access to music controls.
John Hamann, CEO of Velocomp, said, “iBike Coach
introduces the core of our next generation app. With sharper and more
colorful screens, simpler setup procedures, and fun features, such as
music control, we think the iBike Coach will make bicycling more
enjoyable for iBike Dash CC owners.” Hamann added, “We will rapidly
introduce even more features to the iBike Coach App, extending its
features to our iBike Dash CC Deluxe and iBike Dash + Power models.”
iBike App and iBike Dash "Always On" Update
The iBike app update that goes live today
introduces a new “Always On” feature, which allows for the continuation
of data gathering and recording -- even with the iBike App is not
running -- using the iBike Dash electronics. Then when the iBike App is
restarted, the app and electronics talk to each other, figure out where
the data gaps are and seamlessly weave the lost data back into the app.
Critical cycling information, both on-screen and in the ride file, is
always complete and accurate.
According to Hamann, “Cyclists naturally expect
that their cycling computer information will always be correct and
accurate. And iPhone and iPod touch users naturally expect to have full
access to all of their apps, whenever they want. With our new ‘Always
On’ technology, both of these critical expectations are met.
Implementing the ‘Always On’ feature requires complex interactions
between the app, electronics, and firmware. We are pleased to implement
seamless background data recording and recovery technologies in an iOS
cycling computer and to provide this important feature to our
customers.”
Pricing & Availability
The iBike Coach App is available for free
from the App Store on iPhone and iPod touch or at www.itunes.com/appstore.
This app works only with the iBike Dash CC, sold separately.
The update to the iBike App is live now on
the App Store. The app works with the iBike Dash CC, iBike Dash CC
Deluxe, and iBike Dash + Power, sold separately.
iBike Dash bicycle computer products are available
at the Apple Retail Stores, the Apple Online Store, at www.ibikedash.com,
and at local bicycle retail shops.
About the
iBike Dash CC
The iBike Dash CC
allows cyclists to turn their iPhone or iPod touch into an amazing
cycling computer. The iBike Dash CC is a complete system, which
includes the iBike Coach app for iPhone or iPod touch, accessory
electronics that reside in the case of the iBike Dash, and sensors which
are placed on the bike. The electronics gather cycling data and the app
displays and records that data. The iBike Dash CC is available
immediately for iPhone and iPod touch, priced at $199 MSRP through
Apple retail stores throughout the U.S. and Canada, the Apple Store

http://store.apple.com/us/product/H3828LL/A, or Velocomp at:
http://www.ibikesports.com/ibikestore.html. The iBike Dash CC

- THE GREAT KAT UNLEASHES THE WORLD’S FASTEST SHRED GUITAR CD – “BEETHOVEN SHREDS”
-
New CD is a Speed Thrill Unchallenged in the Music Industry
June 7, 2011, NY, NY – The Great Kat http://www.greatkat.com, the world’s fastest guitarist, unleashes today the ultimate Shred Guitar CD -- “Beethoven Shreds.” Displaying the world’s fastest Shred Guitar music, the new CD “Beethoven Shreds” features The Great Kat’s electrifying “The Flight Of The Bumble-Bee” on guitar and violin with dazzling insane speeds of 300 BPM and Beethoven’s “5th Symphony” on guitar/violin with the world’s most famous 4 notes composed by history’s first metalhead – Ludwig van Beethoven!
The Great Kat Guitar Goddess is the female Classical violin virtuoso rebel from Juilliard turned metal guitar fiend, named “Top 10 Fastest Shredders of All Time” by Guitar One Magazine, who has toured with her all-male shred band and featured on TV shows and magazines around the world. Featuring songs from the highly-acclaimed “Beethoven’s Guitar Shred” DVD, “Beethoven Shreds,” CD blends Metal Music in The Great Kat’s original songs: “Torture Techniques” and “IslamoFascists” with Classical Music: Bach’s “Brandenburg Concerto #3” played on 6 guitars and the super-fast Paganini’s music from the devil “Caprice #24”– a notoriously impossible-to-play violin piece, shredded on both guitar and violin by The Great Kat, aka High Priestess Of Guitar Shred.
Dave White from About.com: Classic Rock said about The Great Kat’s style: “Heavy Metal Beethoven. Ya gotta see (and hear) this one to believe it. It's a guitar shred. A really really fast guitar shred. The Great Kat, a classical violin wunderkind turned metal guitar shred virtuoso.”
Available immediately through major retailers and online stores, and http://www.greatkat.com, the new “Beethoven Shreds” CD is priced at $7.95 SRP, with world-wide distribution by Music Video Distributors (http://mvdb2b.com/s/GreatKatBeethovenShreds/TPR0006).

add-ons.
BBQ SOUS-CHEF
-
- IGRILL (igrillinc.com;
$99)
WHAT IT IS: A wireless thermometer that relays the progress of
your precious slabs of meat on the grill.
HOW IT HELPS: Instead of sweating over hot coals, why not knock
golf balls around the yard while the porterhouses make their way
to medium (or a really well-done 400 degrees)? Just insert the
probe into your steak, set the desired temp, and wander up to
200 feet away. Your phone will buzz you when the meat’s done to
your liking.
CYCLING COMPUTER

- IBIKE DASH (ibikesports.com;
$199)
WHAT IT IS: A weatherproof, handlebar-mounted iPhone dock that
works with a fork-mounted speed sensor.
HOW IT HELPS: By collecting mountains of data. During rides,
your speed, distance, routes, lap times, and more get logged.
Afterward you can sync to a PC or Mac and dull the pain of

Sound
advice: Three speakers for mobility
Mark Gibbs
25.05.2011
Gibbs
looks at three portable speaker systems that will enhance your
mobile pleasure
If you travel light, with, say, just an iPad, you may need some good
quality sound for presentations and I have some solutions for you.
Making portable speakers is easy but, unless you can move enough air
when generating bass frequencies -- something that requires a large
speaker surface area -- most music will be dominated by high
frequencies and sound anemic. Even for just speech, a lack of bass
fidelity creates a weak sound without presence, so arguably the most
important aspect by which portable speakers should be judged is the
quality of bass rendition.
My final choice is the
foxL v2
Bluetooth produced by Soundmatters International. The foxL,
another Bluetooth device, is small (5.6-inches by 2.2-inches by
1.4-inches and 9.5 ounces), with a 3.5mm input jack, a 3.5mm
subwoofer output, and a rechargeable battery with an 8 hour life.
Its power output is 4 watts when a wall adapter is used and 2 watts
on battery power.
Of all three products, the foxL has, by far, the best sound
reproduction; in fact, when you show it to people who have any
knowledge about audio they are shocked! My only complaint is when
you use the foxL on a smooth surface and crank up the volume, the
device "walks" forward due to the vibration. No matter, the foxL is
terrific and at $199, considerably more expensive than the other
devices, but it still gets a rating of 4.5 out of 5.
So, the foxL would be my travel choice while the Disco would be my
picnic choice and the Wowee One, my "I don't want too spend much"
choice. That, my friends, is sound advice.
- Golf Digest on SensoGlove
A golf glove that
analyzes your grip pressure
Wednesday, May 25, 2011
It would be an understatement to say that the grip
is important to a good golf swing. "Your hands are your only
physical link with the tools of the game," Arnold Palmer said on his
website. "If they don't transmit your energy properly to the club
and thence to the ball, you won't hit much of a shot."
Placement of the hands on the club is important, but
so is grip pressure. So how are you going to know whether your grip
pressure is correct? How about a golf glove capable of telling you
so?
It's called
SensoGlove, a cabretta-leather glove with four sensors and a
small computer that provides instant audio and visual feedback on
your grip pressure, from address through follow-through. If, as you
take the club back, your grip is too tight, the SensoGlove will emit
a beep.
SensoGlove quotes renowned instructor Jim Flick from a Golf Digest
instruction story: "Relaxed muscles are fast muscles. In golf, the
surest way to hit the ball shorter with less consistency is to give
the club a death grip."
SensoGlove sells for $89. The small computer is removeable and can
be used in a replacement glove that sells for $22.48.

SENSOGLOVE - WORLD’S FIRST
DIGITAL GOLF GLOVE - PARTNERS WITH 20 INTERNATIONAL GOLF SCHOOLS
Schools & PGA Instructors Use Patented Digital
Golf Glove to Instantly Correct
“Death Grip” for Better, More Accurate & Powerful Golf Swing
Makes Great Father’s Day Gift
May 23, 2011, Aachen, Germany –
Sensosolutions
www.sensoglove.com,
a leading provider of innovative IT systems for sports analysis, motion
and performance measurement, announced today it has partnered
with
20 golf schools and
PGA professional instructors world-wide to use
SensoGlove, the world’s first digital golf glove, as a
training tool to help correct the dreaded golf club “death grip” for
a more accurate and powerful golf swing. The only digital golf glove
available today that gives constant feedback on grip pressure in
real-time, SensoGlove can be used with or without a teacher and is an
essential tool for all golfers (from beginner to professional) to
achieve the correct grip.
“Many of the students
we teach at our golf school struggle with grip pressure. More than 90%
of our students grip the club too tight! Until now, it has been a
challenge to communicate proper grip pressure to a student. SensoGlove
gives the student immediate feedback and creates a feeling of the proper
grip pressure. I recommend SensoGlove to any student,” said
Mark Durland, Director of
Instructions at Naples Grande Golf Club, Naples, FL.
SensoGlove -- Your
Own Personal Golf Trainer – Feedback at 80 Times Per Second
SensoGlove
works as your own personal golf trainer, showing you the correct way to
grip the club, thereby avoiding bad habits and injury.
SensoGlove improves the golf game with
built-in digital sensors
that continuously read the user’s grip
pressure to ensure a consistently accurate, smooth and powerful golf
swing for greater distance and lower scores.
SensoGlove’s small, sweat-proof 1.2-inch
LED digital monitor analyzes the pressure of the swing through
highly responsive sensors placed throughout the glove. Just swing the
golf club to receive real-time audio and visual feedback at 80
times per second that warn you if you exceed your target level of
grip pressure. The patented SensoGlove even shows you which
fingers are gripping too tightly, so you can adjust your grip
accordingly.
“Golfers know that
grip pressure is a big issue, but before SensoGlove, they could not get
objective feedback -- especially not in real time,” said David Bauer,
President, Sensosolutions. “Many golfers think they are playing with a
light grip pressure, but when they start the swing, the grip pressure
increases unconsciously. So when a teacher tells the student to keep
the pressure below a certain level with SensoGlove’s numbered system,
the student knows exactly what they mean.”
Great Father’s Day Gift
Made of the highest quality cabretta leather,
SensoGlove is the perfect Father’s Day gift for dads that want to learn
golf or improve their game. With SensoGlove, everyone can quickly learn
how to hold the club, improving every part of their game, from
backswing, downswing, impact, follow-through, to driving, putting, and
chipping.
Right & Left Hand Gloves Available for Men
and Women
SensoGlove is available immediately online at
www.sensoglove.com
and through distributors, sales partners, and golf schools around the
world for men and women in right or left hand configurations,
sizes small to x-large, priced at $89 (replacement gloves are
available for $22.48).
Made of cabretta leather, the built-in digital monitor can be removed to
use SensoGlove as a regular golf glove. For more information, please

Back on the Radar: Other World Computing and going green
Posted by Ann D. at 5/13/2011 10:23 AM CDT on Chicago Business
Larry O'Connor, founder of Other World Computing in Woodstock.
By Raman Chadha
How many business owners do you know who have truly made their facilities
green?
I don’t mean a recycling program or motion-detection light switches. I mean
a renovation or a new building. If you’re like me, the answer is few, if
any. The costs are higher, the returns are long-term, and most business
owners already have enough new initiatives and challenges.
Meet Larry O’Connor, founder and CEO of
Other World Computing, a $70-million
manufacturer and distributor of storage solutions, hard drives and
accessories for computers and mobile devices. Larry founded OWC in 1988 at
the age of 14 (yes, you read that right) in Woodstock, a far northwest
suburb. The company has seen steady growth, more than doubling its employee
count since 2007. And Larry remains ambitious, shooting for $1 billion in
annual revenue within five years.
In 2008, OWC’s team moved into a newly built 37,000-square-foot facility,
which earned the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design)
Platinum certification. There are 335 LEED-certified projects in Illinois,
according to the U.S. Green Building Council, which developed the program.
Only 19 of those received platinum certification, the highest possible
rating for new construction and major renovations. And as one might expect,
most of the platinum projects are owned by large organizations, including
government, institutional, academic, and corporate entities . . . not
entrepreneurial firms.
OWC’s facility features geothermal heating and cooling, permeable pavers
instead of a retention pond and a 500-kilowatt wind turbine, the kind that
you increasingly see sprawling across America’s countrysides. That helps
produce far more energy than the facility uses and, combined with
drastically lower energy utilization, results in some serious gains.
OWC's wind turbine (image from the
OWC website)
Larry and his team pursued the eco-friendly facility for a number of
reasons.
First, like all smart business decisions, it had to make economic sense.
Larry acknowledged that financing and government incentives helped the
project’s feasibility, but the additional costs had to be justified by an
appropriate return on investment. After all, going green doesn’t increase
the appraised value of the building. And while the ROI is long-term, OWC has
already seen “substantial energy savings,” which can have a big impact on a
manufacturing and distribution firm’s bottom line. In fact, Larry says the
facility uses less energy than a building one-third its size.
Second, he said the decision to go green was aligned with the company’s
product philosophy. You see, OWC’s specialty is extending the useful life of
computers and devices by helping customers invest in systems they already
have rather than buying new ones. By putting off the requirement for new
systems, often by 12-24 months, their customers are able to spend less, get
more for their money and, obviously, do the environment good. Larry saw the
eco-friendly facility as yet one more way for the company to advocate
renewal and sustainability.
Finally, Larry says that going green was simply the “responsible thing to
do,” pointing out that the facility has had an impact well beyond the
environment. “We wanted to be independent of the local grid. It’s been a
huge boon for the environment, created a positive atmosphere for employees,
and raised the engagement with our community. It’s clear that they’re glad
to have us.”
That part is surprising, given how so many communities oppose large
structures that change the visual landscape. Needless to say, the turbine
serves as a landmark for the town of Woodstock in addition to a higher
profile for OWC. But Larry explained that the facility’s overall impact, the
fact that the company’s growth continues to benefit the community, and its
long-term relationship with the area made a difference.
“I grew up out here. I’ll do anything I can to preserve this countryside.”

Exhibitor Magazine "12 Steps to
Press Success" Features Interview on Karen Thomas, Thomas Public
Relations
By Lena Valenty,
Exhibitor Magazine
12 Steps to Press Success
Add
prowess to your public-relations strategy with these 12
simple steps from three PR pros, and you'll woo even the
most jaded industry journalists.
Exhibiting at a trade show is a lot like going on a
blind date. Your booth has mere minutes to make a
lasting first impression on whoever decides to give it a
chance. To be more appealing to your target audience,
you’ve carefully accessorized your space with graphics,
key messages, and a particular aesthetic that represents
— and accentuates — your company’s best features. You
want to appear interesting, but not overeager.
Confident, but not pompous. Potential suitors include
attractive prospects such as buyers and distributors,
but don’t overlook the person that, at first glance, may
not seem like your type — the journalist.
Sure, his or her badge color isn’t quite what you’re
looking for, but don’t let that negligible turnoff cloud
your judgment. Journalists, though perhaps not as
glamorous as buyers or distributors, have the potential
to catapult your company from Plain Jane mundane to
Press Princess. And all you have to do is primp and
preen your exhibit program a bit to confidently court
those members of the media. To help you get started,
we’ve compiled 12 steps that require little more than
your time and some thoughtful planning.
Find your audience
The first step in informing the media about your
company’s presence at an upcoming trade show is not as
simple as crafting a generic “come visit us at booth
555” e-mail and hitting “send.” Before you blast out a
press release announcing show-related news to every
journalist in your Rolodex, you have to do some legwork.
According to Karen Thomas, president of Thomas Public
Relations Inc. based in Melville, NY, requesting a list
of preregistered press attendees from show management is
a good place to start. “Research the people on the press
list and visit the publications’ and media outlets’
websites to determine your key press targets,” she says.
Look for titles such as “editor in chief,” “editor,” or
“writer.” Then search for those people’s bylines (using
a search engine such as Google) to find past articles
and published works and figure out if their beat aligns
with your company’s products or services.
“Use social media to not only build relationships with
your current clients and prospects, but also with
journalists,” Thomas says. “By having a social-media
presence, you are increasing your company’s exposure,
thereby increasing the chance that members of the press
will catch wind of your company’s plans for the show.”
Though social media is an easy way to reach out to the
masses, Thomas stresses the importance of communicating
with your targeted list of journalists via personal
e-mail correspondence as well.
Book interviews
Distributing press releases, maintaining e-mail contact
with targeted journalists, and having a social-media
presence are all part of a strategy to get members of
the media to your exhibit. It’s unlikely that press will
request interviews out of the blue — unless there is
already a lot of buzz about your product or company. So
be proactive, and start booking press appointments
several weeks in advance of the show.
But even if you offer coffee or lunch, be prepared for
no-shows and rescheduling. “Missed meetings happen — and
a lot of times, writers and editors will stop by the
booth outside of their scheduled time,” Thomas says.
“So, it’s important to be flexible from the get-go, and
ask for cell-phone numbers so you can touch base with
journalists during the show in case they don’t show up,
or need to reschedule on the fly.”
Prepare your exhibit
If you decide to offer a gift, Thomas suggests picking
something useful — and lightweight. “In my experience,
journalists appreciate pens and notepads, but absolutely
love USB drives loaded with all the company and product
information they need,” she says. “They also like free
product samples, and although some vendors request the
product back, I say let the journalists keep it. You
never know when they’ll have an opportunity to write
about your product.”
If you don’t have a quiet area in your exhibit, off-site
meetings (such as at a restaurant over breakfast or
lunch) are often a welcome alternative. Plus, they can
be scheduled around the exhibit-hall hours, reducing the
risk of time conflicts and missed appointments. Another
option is to host meetings in the show’s pressroom,
which most shows will allow.
Whether you conduct the interview in your exhibit, the
pressroom, or off site, be succinct in communicating
your content, make it applicable to that publication’s
readers, and don’t keep anyone waiting.

Get A
Grip: High-Tech Gloves For
Golfers, Skiers
-
- Seasoned golfer Joe Frey tests out the SensoGlove in
Denver.
A Glove To Monitor Your Golf Swing
At the Park Hill Golf Club in Denver, my friend Joe Frey tests out the
SensoGlove — a
glove with a computer chip.
The chip rests on
the top of Frey's hand. It has a
screen and reacts to sensors in the
fingers of the glove. When Frey
takes a swing, the screen tells him
whether any of his fingers are
gripping the club too hard.
After Frey takes
a swing, the screen shows a hand
with a pinkie lit up and blinking.
That means he gripped the club too
hard with that finger, suggesting
his shoulders aren't relaxed enough.
I'm no golfer.
But Frey, who's a seasoned golfer,
is skeptical about the glove's
feedback.
"There's a
hundred pieces of the swing," he
says. "Your grip is one of those
hundred."
Frey thinks the
SensoGlove may be a better fit for
people who grip their club too hard.
But even the most
high-tech glove won't help a novice
like me.

Cyber
grill
You can monitor your grilled chicken from a more comfy spot on
the deck with this remote meat thermometer setup.
The claim
The iGrill is a Bluetooth-enabled meat thermometer that works
with an iPad, iPod Touch, or iPhone. (It can also be used alone.) A free
application downloaded from the Apple Store enables the griller to set
alarms and timers, find recipes, and monitor the thermometer remotely.
On the iGrill website are a range of claims, including "the most
complete cooking thermometer on the market today," "your own personal
Sous-Chef," and "200 foot+ range." The device costs $100 and comes with
4 AA batteries and one probe. A second probe costs $20.
The check
We borrowed an iPhone from our electronics department, downloaded the
app, tried all the functions, verified the remote capabilities, and
checked the probe for temperature accuracy.
Bottom line
The iGrill is iGood. The app was easy to use, the temperature readings
were fairly accurate, and our iPhone could connect with the device from
as far away as 300 feet. The iGrill delivers a high "geek factor"
experience, our engineers said. Whether it's worth about $60 more than
other wireless meat thermometers is up to you.

Wireless Grilling
Just in time for grilling season,
iDevices has introduced the world's first wireless
thermometer for (drumroll, please) - your iPhone. The
dual-probe Bluetooth-enabled wireless iGRILL THERMOMETER
also works with the iPod touch and the iPad. Bonus
features include a touch-screen interface on the
thermometer (which can be used on its own, without
Bluetooth pairing), alarm settings to avoid overcooking
and a maximum temperature of 400 degrees. Just load the
iGrill app on your iPhone, stick the thermometer in your
meat of choice and walk away (with your iPhone). Chat
with guest, do laundry, watch television - whatever it
is you do when grilling. Wondering how much time
you have left or what the temp of your meat is?
Check your iPhone. When it dings, dinner's ready.
Too bad your phone won't serve it too. $100 (additional
probes are $20),

WORLD’S FIRST DIGITAL GOLF GLOVE -
EXPANDS WORLD-WIDE DISTRIBUTION
Signs New Online
Distributors in U.S., Japan, Scandinavia, Spain, Korea,
Australia & New Zealand
PERFECT GIFT FOR FATHER’S DAY –
Patented Golf Glove Instantly Corrects “Death Grip” for Better,
More Accurate & Powerful Golf Swing
March 17, 2011, Aachen, Germany –
Sensosolutions
www.sensoglove.com, a
leading provider of innovative IT systems for sports analysis,
motion and performance measurement, announced today that it has
signed distribution deals for SensoGlove, the world’s first
digital golf glove, for online distribution in the U.S.,
Japan, Scandinavia, Spain, Korea, Germany, Australia,
and New Zealand. International distributors include
InTheHoleGolf.com (U.S.), Becompany (Japan), LuxuryHouse.se
(Scandinavia), Sporthitec.com and Manolitogolf.com (Spain), SM
Tech Inc. (Korea), and Stig Limited (NewZealand/Australia).
SensoGlove
improves the golf game with built-in
digital sensors that
continuously read the user’s grip pressure to ensure a
consistently accurate, smooth and powerful golf swing
for greater distance and lower scores.
SensoGlove’s small, sweat-proof
1.2-inch LED digital monitor analyzes the pressure of the
swing through highly responsive sensors placed throughout the
glove. Just swing the golf club to receive real-time audio
and visual feedback at 80 times per second by the
small sensors that warn you if you exceed your target level
of grip pressure. The patented SensoGlove even shows you
which fingers are gripping too tightly, so you can adjust
your grip accordingly.
Perfect Father’s Day Gift for Golfers
– Works as Your Own Personal Golf Teacher
Made of the highest quality cabretta
leather, SensoGlove is the perfect Father’s Day gift for dads
that want to learn golf or improve their game (makes a great
Mother’s Day gift too!). Everyone that has tried to
learn golf knows how hard it is to achieve the perfect light
grip necessary to swing the club correctly every time.
SensoGlove works as your own personal golf trainer, showing you
the correct way to grip the club, thereby avoiding bad habits
and injury. With SensoGlove, all golfers (from beginner to
advanced), can quickly learn how to hold the club, improving
every part of their game, from backswing, downswing, impact,
follow-through, to driving, putting, and chipping.
“Dads
everywhere will love SensoGlove, the first golf glove that
actually teaches you how to improve the challenging game of golf
with a more relaxed, powerful swing,” said David Bauer,
President, SensoSolutions. “Instinctively, people try to grip
the club harder when they have trouble hitting the ball
properly, creating a ‘death grip,’ with excessive tension
in the hands, wrists, arms and shoulders, crippling the swing.
SensoGlove stops the ‘death grip’ by telling you when you are
gripping too hard and when it’s just right.”
Right & Left Hand Gloves Available
for Men and Women
SensoGlove is available immediately
online at www.sensoglove.com and through distributors, sales partners,
and golf schools around the world for men and women in right
or left hand configurations, sizes small to x-large,
priced at $89 (replacement gloves are available for $25).
Made of cabretta leather, the built-in digital monitor can be
removed to use SensoGlove as a regular golf glove. For more
information, please visit

LLC a company committed to partnering with inventors in the development
of winning ideas for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch, as well as other
areas of the Bluetooth®/WiFi

professionals to develop an idea of his own – a concept that would go on
to become iDevices LLC’s flagship product – iGrill, the first of a line

GRILL ME
- Want to be able to BBQ and entertain at your tailgate party
at the same time.
- Well, you can. With the new iGrill app on your iPhone you
can. Simply insert the iGrill thermometer accessory into the
steak or burger on your grill, and open the app on your iPhone.
The app tracks the temperature of your food, freeing you up to
do other things, like play beer pong and chat up the cuties in
the car next door.
- There is a downside, though: The iGrill accessory will run
you $99.99. That's a little rich for The Score's blood,
especially since the Jets are staying home.

A dashboard on your handlebars makes

Workouts
Whether I’m running or walking or biking in the Blue
Hills, I prefer to leave any instrumentation behind. I
even turn off the stroke counter on my Water Rower when
I am working out at home. I just hate looking down at
any device that tells me, after what feels like 20
minutes of work, that I have been at it only for five.
Tweet 2 people Tweeted thisYahoo! Buzz ShareThis But I
also appreciate that for every one of us who runs in
intervals to rest weak knees or wheezing lungs, there
are 10 more training for a triathlon.
For those jocks who want to fine-tune their workouts,
Velocomp LLP last week unveiled a “dashboard’’ for
bicycle handlebars. It works with the iPhone and the
iPod Touch.
Part device and part app, the iBike Dash Cycling
Computer (www.ibikedash.com)
displays your speed and heart rate (when you purchase a
separate heart rate monitor).
With your iPhone or iPod Touch inside the iBike Dash CC,
and the device on your handlebars, you can see precisely
when you are in your optimal heart-rate zone, and,
thanks to its GPS map, where you are.
The water- and shock-resistant iBike Dash CC measures
calories burned, time elapsed in your workout, wind
speed, and elevation.
Your can store your workout data in a calendar to view
your progress from week to week. It works with all
wireless speed, cadence, and heart-rate sensors that
comply with the ANT+ standard, according to Velocomp,
and comes with an ANT+ speed sensor.
The Velocomp device can also house an extra battery to
keep up with you on the street or trail.
And yes, you can place and receive calls on your iPhone
while running the app, and it will continue to record
data.
Expect to pay between $200 and $330 for the iBike Dash
CC, depending on extras, such as a wall charger.

Other World Computing Ships Monster 12TB Desktop
Drive
By: Chris Preimesberger, eWeek
2011-02-25
The company is now shipping the largest-to-date RAID storage drive
ever for the desktop.
If you're a video or animation editor who often works in
high-definition projects -- and there are more and more of those
happening these days -- having a lot of storage around to keep all
those mammoth digital files handy is a huge advantage.
After all, a typical HD movie can soak up an average of 50GB to
100GB of space. If you have a few hundred of those babies lying
around, it's not easy to find places to put them. Of course, if one
simply has a lot of files, period, something like 12TB will satisfy
most storage needs for quite a while.
Other World
Computing (aka OWC) now has an answer to personal or small
business Big Data. It started shipping a new desktop RAID drive Feb.
23 that simply blows away competitors based on capacity alone.
The OWC Mercury Elite-AL Pro Qx2 (pictured) is a monster 12TB
enterprise RAID (redundant array of independent disks) storage
drive, designed with a highly-reliable 2 million MTBF (mean time
between failures) for critical business applications that must never
go down.
Mean time between failures (MTBF) is the predicted elapsed time
between inherent failures of a system during operation.
The QX2, which retails for $2,200, is comprised of four 3TB HDDs,
all situated in hot-swappable drive bays, so replacing a bum disk is
quite easy.
OWC, based in Woodstock, Ill., offers four interfaces for the QX2:
FireWire 800, FireWire 400, USB 2.0 and eSATA.
The mammoth storage machine also features selectable RAID settings
of 0, 1, 5, 10; 300MB/s data transfer rates for high speed;
plug/play storage and redundancy for either Macs and PCs. It's all
covered by a 5-year warranty, OWC said.

iBike releases Dash Cycling Computer for iPhone, iPod
touch
Posted on Feb 23, 2011 10:00 am by Danny Gallagher,
Macworld.com
The combination of the
Dash Cycling Computer and the company’s free iBike app turns the
portable Apple device into a personal cycling trainer that tracks—among
other things—speed, time, and heart rate.
The device uses ANT+ wireless speed sensors to track your pedal power.
These sensors provide an accurate measure of speed, heart rate with
varying target zones, and cadence (that's biker speed for rpm). It can
also use GPS to track your route and can automatically store your
workout data on a daily calendar.
And if you're the kind of not-so-easy rider who drops his or her iPhone
or iPod on just about every block, the attachment comes with a tough,
water-resistant case that allows you to use the touchscreen even while
wearing your favorite pair of biker gloves.
The basic version costs $199 and the advanced version—which measures
cadence, heart rate, and calories—costs $329. Both models are available
for sale at
Apple's online store or
iBike's Website, and require either an iPhone 3G, 3GS, or 4 or a
first-, second-, or third-generation iPod touch. The iBike app is
available for download for free at the App store.

Dispels
“No Pain, No Gain” Myth – “HR Pacing Meter” Tells
Boundaries –
Critical for Safe Training
Intelligent biking is
all about sustaining your energy, so that you have more than
enough left for the last few miles. Forget the “no pain, no gain” myth,
the iBike Dash CC tells you how hard is too hard. Riding
within your boundaries is critical for safe training,
and with the iBike Dash CC’s “HR Pacing Meter,” you can see at a
glance whether your heart rate in the right zone. The HR Pacing Meter
determines your fitness level with 5 Heart Rate Color Zones from
50% to 100%. These zones indicate the degree of difficulty you will
experience when cycling in each zone at your fitness level: from Blue
(very light) to Red (very hard). Each of the zones address different
goals, from losing weight in the bottom zones to improving fitness in
the middle zones, to maximizing performance in the top zones. After
regular exercise, you’ll find you’re able to exercise more comfortably
in the upper zones and for longer times in the lower zones.
Use Optimal Cycling
Effort to Burn Fat
iBike Dash CC also tells you when your
cycling effort is optimal for burning fat; how many calories you’re
using during the ride, on all rides this week or all rides this month;
what speed and distance you’re traveling; and even where you are on your
bike route. Also, iBike Dash CC can help you set some personal
goals, measure your progress and allow you to adjust your
performance as you enjoy your ride.
Virtual
Co-pilot, Navigator, & Trainer -- All in One
“We’d all like to be
fitter, healthier and lose some weight, but the truth is just riding
your bike for half an hour or so a day won’t necessarily do it,” said
John Hamann, CEO, Velocomp. “With the revolutionary iBike Dash CC on
your iPhone or iPod touch, you can take the next step, knowing how to
manage your biking effort to the best effect to help you become fitter
with an amazing cycling dashboard at your fingertips -- a virtual
co-pilot, navigator, and trainer -- all in one.”

Wired.com on foxLv2 Bluetooth for

Charlie Sorrel,
Wired.com
Bass-Bustin’, Battery-Powered Speaker Invented by
Rocket Scientist
By Charlie Sorrel February 17, 2011 | 7:01 am | Categories:
Accessories and Peripherals
Why should the
audiophile nerds get all the good-sounding gear? Floor-standing speakers,
amps that weight a ton and speaker cables as thick as the tentacles of a
giant squid might sound good, but they’re not exactly portable.
Battery powered speakers are never going to compete with proper hi-fi gear,
but at least we don’t have to settle for sucky portable speakers anymore.
The new foxL v2 joins the Jawbone Jambox in the tiny-speaker-big-sound
category, and better, it was invented by a rocket scientist.
There are two internal tricks. One is the “Twoofer”, a combined tweeter and
woofer which saves space but apparently gives a big sound from a small
(25mm) driver. The other, rather cleverer, trick is the “BassBattery”. This
uses the mass of the rechargeable li-ion battery as an “acoustic suspension
bass driver.”
The foxL comes in two forms: a straight-up wired version and an A2DP
Bluetooth version which also adds a mic for hands-free calling, and a call
answer button. They are priced at $200 and $250.
A word on this kind of speaker. Even with clever engineering and
high-quality internals, the bass from a little speaker is never going to
shake the room. I have been trying out the Jawbone Jambox for the last few
days and it sounds truly amazing for its tiny size, but there is no real
bass thump. You get a good thud, but it’s not the same. The SuperTooth Disco
which I tested a while back has a subwoofer built-in. This gives better
bass, but the speaker is as big as three Jamboxes.
That said, things are a helluva lot better than they used to be.

iGrill Grilling/Cooking
Thermometer
A unique device that frees you from your oven or
grill!
Written: Feb 11 '11 (Updated Feb 11 '11)
Product Rating:
Pros: Unique design, easy to clean, simple to operate!
Cons: Can not monitor cooking time or temp while talking on
IPhone!
The Bottom Line: You can tell the designers of this device had
consumers in mind, since it is easy to clean and simple to operate!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DennisM's Full Review: iGrill Grilling/Cooking Thermometer
Some technology we use eventually becomes commonplace to us. When we use
a wireless phone headset, or pair our phones with our cars, it is
Bluetooth at work. While Bluetooth technology is still used mostly for
cell phones, it can be utilized for other wireless communication
devices.
A few companies have adapted Bluetooth for wireless connection of their
devices, and IGrill is one of them.
iGrill describes their product as: “World’s first wireless Bluetooth
cooking thermometer.” It works with an IPhone, IPod Touch and IPad.
First off, let’s discuss what this iGrill is used for. Basically it is a
cooking thermometer that reads out the temperature of foods on its built
in display, and transmits a wireless signal to one of the Apple devices
mentioned above. However, calling the iGrill just a thermometer is like
calling a diamond just a rock. It is a lot more than that!
Let’s take it from the opening of the box to utilizing the unit.
Included in the box is one iGrill unit, 4 AA batteries and a metal probe
with a 48” metal cable connected to it. First off, the batteries are
inserted into the back of the unit, and the probe is plugged into the
side.
After this basic set up, the three buttons on the iGrill have to be
pressed at the same time. This performs a complete reset of the unit,
since it is tested at the factory, and you want to erase any settings in
its memory.
The three buttons on the face of the unit are POWER, + and -.
Following the resetting of the iGrill you press and hold down the POWER
button for 4 seconds. The blue iGrill logo will flash telling you that
it is ready to be paired with a Bluetooth Apple device. Following the
pairing procedure on either the IPhone, IPad or ITouch, the unit is
connected to your device.
If the iGrill is paired correctly it will show a blue LED. If not
paired, the same blue LED will be flashing. Okay, so the next question
is why do I need this thing communicating with let’s say my IPhone? The
answer is simple. If you are outside grilling on the BBQ or even inside
with something cooking in the oven, you are not held prisoner standing
there waiting for the correct temperature to be reached. When paired
with my IPhone I can walk around the house doing other chores, or have a
party and not worry about something burning on my outside grill. The
iGrill will sound an alarm on my IPhone indicating that my desired
temperature has been reached on my roast beef, to remove it from the
grill while it is still nice and juicy. (My wife of course likes it so
well done that I don’t need an alarm. I can forget about it and remove
it when it is like shoe leather, but that is another story!)
The front of the iGrill has a smooth face so there are no buttons or
display to get dirty. A simple swipe with a wet cloth will clean the
face. By the way, you are not limited to sending a signal to a device to
notify you when your food reaches a certain temperature. It is also a
stand-alone unit that has a nice large red display on it showing
temperature, which can alarm by itself without the assistance of a
Bluetooth device.
The end of the probe goes into whatever it is you are cooking, and is on
a 4’ cord, so the iGrill does not have to be near the heat. If on a
grill or in an oven, the probe cord drapes out from inside the grill or
oven and you place the iGrill where it will not be affected by heat,
very easy.
When you finish with the probe, you rinse it and wrap it around the
iGrill do it is all together. One important note here while we are
discussing the probe, is the iGrill’s ability to utilize 2 probes.
That’s right, you can have one probe in a turkey and another in a roast
beef, and each one will read out the temperature of the food it is
inserted in to. The unit comes with 1 probe, but you can purchase a
second, that plugs in to a second probe connector on the iGrill.
I want to take a moment here and explain that it the CONS section I
mentioned that you can not monitor the iGrill while you are on your
IPhone. While you are on the phone, it is still monitoring your cooking
and will update when you release the call. This is a small "bug" that
they hope to work out with Apple!
For all the folks who like reading specs and full manufacturer
information, here it is, just to give you more basic info:
Dimensions of iGrill:
4.5 inches high
3 inches wide
1 inch thick
Specs:
Bluetooth enabled with 200+ foot range
Compatible with IPod Touch, IPhone and IPad
Features touch interface and projection display
Stand-alone thermometer when not used with App
Multi-probe capable
Integrated probe storage
Alarm settings
Hook attached to act as a stand or to allow you to hang the IGrill
Will track temperatures up to 400 degrees
APP FEATURES:
iGrill connectability
Food temperature option
Multiple probe support/will read out different temps for different foods
Shows remaining cooking time
Multiple/selectable viewing options
Recipe browsing/sharing
Kitchen timer
To go into every function of the iGrill is redundant here! The purpose
of these reviews is to inform you if a product works as advertised and
can benefit you. In this case the iGrill is quite unique, and I have
found it to be very accurate. There is another wireless thermometer
product being sold that also transmits a signal, but you have to carry a
special receiver with you. This one utilizes your IPhone which you
probably carry anyway, so no extra weight!
This is a great product and if you want to get more information iGrill
has their own web site. This unit is also available in the Apple Store
as well. The App is free, so how can you lose? You’ll find that it helps
you monitor the food you are cooking, without it turning into a burned,
dry something, unless of course you are my wife! Only kidding dear!

A long-standing fixture on desktop computers, ArtRage
may not have the following of Painter, but it’s a
well-regarded package with a loyal fanbase. This release
sees ArtRage migrate to the iPad, where the program has
the potential to reach a whole new audience.
ArtRage for Windows and Mac OS X already offers a
tablet-friendly interface, which means the fundamentals
that define the software haven’t changed greatly for the
iPad release. The two bottom corners present
touch-sensitive buttons that reveal brushes and pens to
the left, and the colour palette to the right.
The brushes are as capable as you’d expect from
ArtRage’s pedigree, with oil, watercolour and airbrush
among the media provided. Once you’ve laid down some
paint, a Palette Knife tool enables you to smear it
around. You can also create line art with a pencil, pen
or crayon. Sliders enable you to adjust size and
pressure, along with media-specific options such as
drying time for paint. When you establish a combination
of settings that you like, you can save it to a preset
list to access at any time.
The potential of the brushes and pens is improved
further with the ability to customise your canvas.
Choose from canvas presets or make your own adjustments,
and you’ll see your tools respond differently to the new
conditions. The interaction is progressive, meaning that
you could, for example, lay down watercolours on a rough
canvas, then smooth the surface to work over the paint
with crayons.
You can also work on layers, with blending modes that
will be familiar to Photoshop artists, along with a
Watercolour mode that enhances your paint based on its
thickness. Add the brushes, pens, canvas and blend modes
together, and you have a toolset to satisfy dedicated
artists, wrapped in an interface that builds on the
strengths of its desktop counterpart. ArtRage for iPad
is a pleasure to paint with.

Another spin through the Macworld
Conference and Expo on Friday revealed more software and
peripherals that push the boundaries of what Apple
products can do. The show, which was expected to draw
25,000 people, wraps up today at Moscone Center West.
Some highlights from the show floor:
IGrill: Among the more unusual peripherals on
display is the iGrill, a Bluetooth-enabled meat
thermometer that will ping your iPhone when the turkey's
done.
IDevices CEO Chris Allen is an avid griller who wanted
to find the simplest way possible to know when dinner
was ready; his company released the iGrill at the end of
last year. The product costs $99.99; an accompanying
iPhone app is free.

- The iGrill may be the perfect
cure for distracted cooking.
You’ve heard of iMac, iPod, iTunes,
iPhone and iPad. It’s time to meet iGrill.
The iGrill may be the perfect cure for distracted
cooking. That’s right, iGrill. This cooking thermometer
will let the host of a barbecue socialize with guests
without having to worry about what’s sizzling on the
grill. When the meat is ready, the iGrill will beep the
host’s iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch via a Bluetooth
connection. The iGrill may be the perfect cure for
distracted cooking. Or as the marketing pamphlet from
iDevice, the marker of the iGrill, says, it is
“redefining how we socialize.” I have to think that was
said tongue-in-cheek.
The iGrill is one of hundreds of products on display at
San Francisco’s Macworld Expo, the show for Apple
enthusiasts that Apple itself abandoned two years ago.
Given the amount of stuff dedicated to Apple’s mobile
products, iWorld Expo may be a more appropriate name.
There were plenty of traditional exhibitors at Macworld
Expo, ranging from Hewlett Packard, which was promoting
printers, to a variety of software makers. But perhaps
the most interesting, and certainly the most colorful,
were the myriad iGadgets that give new uses to your
iPhone and iPad.
Who knew, for instance, that there were so many kinds of
stands and holders for the iPad? The Stump, a rubberized
wedge with a groove in the middle, advertised itself as
three stands in one, as it holds the iPad in three
different positions. RingO is a small plastic and metal
gadget that works as a table stand for your iPad and can
also secure it to the wall or the back of a car seat. It
calls itself a universal mounting system.
But still, for sheer whimsy, it was hard to top the
iGrill. To steal a line from the CBS radio reporter
Larry Magid, whom I saw at the iGrill booth, it was “the
hottest product at the show.”

The iGrill is a Bluetooth-enabled wireless cooking
thermometer which works with your iPhone or iPad. Stick
the sensor in your meat, and sync the base station with
your iGadget of choice, and you can monitor your food
from up to 200 feet away.
The free iOS app allows users to browse recipes, set
timers, and monitor multiple probes. Future models will
also measure ambient temperature, in case you want to
know the temp of both your oven and your food.
I recently got an electric smoker, and the iGrill could
be hugely useful tool for cooking with low heat. Opening
up the smoker lets out heat and smoke, so a wireless
thermometer could save the day –especially if I can
check the temperature of my BBQ without getting up from
the couch.

iGRILL WINS 6TH ANNUAL BLUETOOTH SIG
BEST OF CES 2011 AWARDS – BEST NEW PRODUCT
iGrill - World’s First Bluetooth Cooking
Thermometer for iPhone, iPod touch & iPad
Revolutionizes the Way We Cook - A Perfectly Cooked

iPhone and iPad via a long-range Bluetooth® and
App-enabled connection,

2011 Bluetooth SIG Best of CES Awards for Best New
Product. iGrill turns
your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad into your own
personal sous-chef, enabling you to multitask
between your grill or oven and guests with the peace of
mind that your food is perfectly cooked, at target

Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, a record number of
devices were submitted for consideration from all three
levels of Bluetooth SIG membership. Each product was

- Young rockers plug into their own
music with headphones
- By GREGG ELLMAN
Kidz Gear headphones are just that: headphones designed for kids
age 2 and up and are available in wired or wireless models.
- The construction has soft padded ear cups, which swivel for
comfort and are uniquely designed for kids' smaller ears.
An adjustable plastic headband connects the two speakers.
- The wired model has a cord about 4-feet long with a standard
3.5-inch input jack to connect to just about any device. A
volume control is on the cord.
A volume-limiting device works with the wired unit. This will
plug into the headphones and the media device, allowing parents
to limit the upper range of volume available to kids.
If you choose the wireless model, a transmitter must also be
purchased to connect to the device and the wireless model
requires three AAA batteries.
To control the wireless headphones, an on/off switch and volume
controls are located on the ear cup.
The headphones retail at $16.99 for wired, wireless $29.99 for
wireless (necessary transmitter is $14.99);
