Great Kat has classical music in her veins, then applies the arts in all its aspects. Technique, CDs, demonic voices are all imbued with the great classical composers, especially Beethoven, who she says she is his musical reincarnation.

 
That's why her new album is called Beethoven Shreds (which are the seven songs from their DVD of the same name), and she executes pieces like "The Fifth Symphony" or Bach's "Brandenburg Concerto" at the maximum speed on guitar and violin, with a crushing and powerful technique.

The star who conceptualizes the great scores talked to us a bit about her concerns and why shred metal exists in her image and likeness.
 
For those who do not know, who is Great Kat?

I graduated from the Juilliard conservatory on violin. I won the Artists International Violin Competition (in categories of violin and violin soloist), held at Carnegie Recital Hall.  Then I became the world's fastest guitarist. I'm in the top 10 fastest guitarists of all time by Guitar One Magazine. And I represent the resurrection of classical music to the world.

 
 
What about your new record do we find?

In Beethoven Shreds we find adaptations in my crushing and fast style of  "Beethoven's 5th Symphony", "Paganini's" Caprice # 24 ", Bach's "Brandenburg Concerto # 3", "Torture techniques", "IslamoFascists", "Bach's the Art of the Fugue" and the famous piece "The flight of the bumble-bee," all at high-speed with metal arrangements and orchestrations.


Do you listen to only classical music?

Yes, Beethoven, Bach, Mozart, Wagner, Vivaldi, Paganini, thanks to them I am quickly revolutionizing the music of classical metal.

If you were to encounter Beethoven and Paganini these days, what would you say?

I am the reincarnation of their music for the world.


 
Do you have a favorite band of metal?

I am the messiah of metal, I am the reincarnation of Beethoven, I am the goddess of music.


How do you define your style?

My style is grinding, crushing, virtuoso, I am the creator of classical shred metal. If people appreciate the music this way they would forget their problems. Listen to classical music, that wakes up their genius and intelligence and allows them to cope with intelligence the obstacles of this world.

Do you live for music?

Yes, I work to promote, rehearse, and spread the gospel of metal shred the world.


Why don't we see you at the big metal festivals in the world?

When organizers appreciate good music, then I will be invited, as they only go to get drunk rather instead of seeking for better shows. I think we still are not ready to appreciate my powerful and full of energy show.  It is also because perhaps unlike many bands, I mastered the technique so powerfully, and my music can only be compared with that of Ludwig Van Beethoven.


 
What do you think about the productions on vinyl?

There will be a version of my new album in LP format, and I already have a vinyl edition of Satan says.


And of Mexico, what can you tell me?

I have already been presented as a solo classical violinist and know I have many slaves in Mexico, who understand the power of my music. No escatima en técnica y gritos para desafiar la velocidad en la guitarra, ella es Great Kat, quien reinventa las grandes partituras.

Great Kat lleva la música clásica en las venas, la aplica en todas sus vertientes artísticas. Técnica, discos, voces demoniacas están impregnados de los grandes compositores clásicos, y en especial de Beethoven, de quien dice es su reencarnación musical.

Por algo su nuevo disco se llama Beethoven shreds (que son las siete canciones de su DVD del mismo nombre), y en el que ejecuta piezas como “La quinta sinfonía” o el “Concierto de Brandenburg” de Bach a la máxima velocidad en la guitarra y el violín, con una técnica trituradora y poderosa.

La protagonista de conceptualizar las partituras de los grandes nos platica un poco de sus inquietudes, y de por qué existe el shred metal a su imagen y semejanza.

Para los que no te conocen, ¿quién es Great Kat?

Me gradué en el conservatorio Juilliard, con posgrado en violín. Gané el concurso internacional de violinistas (en categorías de violín y violín solista), que se celebró en el Carnegie Recital Hall. Luego me convertí en la guitarrista más rápida del mundo. Estoy en el top 10 de los guitarristas más rápidos de todos los tiempos según la revista Guitar One Magazine. Y represento la resurrección de la música clásica para el mundo.

¿Y en tu nuevo disco qué encontramos?

En Beethoven shreds encontrarán adaptaciones a mi estilo triturador y rápido de la “Beethoven’s ‘5th Symphony”, “Paganini’s ‘Caprice #24”, “Bach’s ‘Brandenburg Concerto #3”, “Torture techniques”, “IslamoFascists”, “Bach’s the art of the fugue” o la famosa pieza “The flight of the bumble-bee”, todas a alta velocidad con arreglos de metal y orquestaciones.


¿Escuchas sólo música clásica?

Sí, Beethoven, Bach, Mozart, Wagner, Vivaldi, Paganini, gracias a ellos yo revolucioné la música rápida del metal clásico.

Si te encontraras con Beethoven o Paganini en estos tiempos, ¿qué les dirías?

Que yo soy la reencarnación de su música para el mundo.


¿Tienes una banda favorita de metal?

Soy la mesías del metal, soy la reencarnación de Beethoven, soy la diosa de la música.


¿Cómo defines tu estilo?

Mi estilo es triturador, aplastante, virtuoso, soy la creadora del shred classical metal. Si muchos apreciaran la música de esta manera nos olvidaríamos de problemas. Escuchen música clásica, eso aviva su genialidad y les permite afrontar con inteligencia las trabas de este mundo.

¿Vives para la música?

Sí, me dedico a promover, ensayar, difundir y llevar el evangelio del shred metal por el mundo.


¿Por qué no se te ve en los grandes festivales de metal en el mundo?

Cuando los organizadores se dediquen a apreciar la buena música, entonces me van a invitar, pues solamente van a emborracharse en lugar de buscar ofrecer mejores shows. Creo que aún no están preparados para apreciar mi show poderoso y lleno de energía. También es porque quizá a diferencia de muchas bandas yo domino la técnica de manera poderosa, y mi música sólo puede ser comparada con la de Ludwig Van Beethoven.


¿Qué piensas acerca de las producciones en vinilo?

Ya viene la versión de mi nuevo disco en formato de LP, y ya cuento con una edición de vinilo de Satan says.


¿Y de México, qué me puedes decir?

Ya me he presentado como solista de violín clásico y sé que tengo muchos esclavos en México, quienes entienden el poder de mi música. En mi sitio de internet pueden leer una pequeña biografía del héroe de la Revolución Emiliano Zapata, El Atila del Sur, en donde puse una frase que él decía, y que me agrada mucho: “Es mejor morir de pie, que vivir de rodillas”.
